What is PagarBook ?

PagarBook — is India’s Best Payroll and Attendance tracking tool for Small & Medium Enterprises.

PagarBook Aims To Build A Human Capital Platform For Indian SMEs, which is also available in Hindi, English, Gujarati, Marathi, Punjabi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Odia for now.

PagarBook is an app-based software for Employee and Payroll Management and is used by all the small and medium business merchants of India which helps in:

  • Manage Staff attendance, verify staff presence in office or on-site location
  • Manage Field Sales agents or remote team by biometric attendance, selfie attendance and GPS tracking
  • Employee can self mark their attendance
  • Auto track punch-in punch-out timing
  • Track total working hours
  • Calculate employee’s overtime and salary
  • Auto deduct the leave and advance payment
  • Calculate payout for pay per task employees
  • Calculate and 1-click payroll process to employees
  • Send salary of all employees at once in just 1-click
  • Easiest payroll manager for android
  • Create job posters and can share with whom so ever you want.

Ps: There are two User Flows — Employer and Employee. I am considering Employer flow for now as the Employee Flow have no much Actions.

What is it trying to Solve❓

Target Market: 🏪

India has the world’s second largest workforce, at 500M. The majority is employed by India’s 60 million small and medium businesses, which are estimated to contribute 30% to the GDP and pay $300B in annual wages. They mostly work in ‘unorganized sector’ jobs in manufacturing, construction and retail, as well as small service firms.

  • Hospitality & Restaurants industry to manage staffs, salary and payroll
  • Manufacturing industry, Garage, Auto Repair Shops, auto dealerships to have an easy and simple solution to manage their business and employees
  • Beauty parlors, Salons, or spa to manage their employee, their salary and accounts and ledger book of their business
  • Medical Stores, Hospitals, and clinics to to manage workers and staffs
  • Supermarkets, electronic shops, furniture shops, textile industry to manage their huge and versatile workforce and their monthly or weekly salary or payout.

Underserved Needs: 🔴

Employer:

For SME business owners, there is no easy way to manage payroll, attendance, salary advance and benefits for small, seasonal or itinerant workforces.

Employee:

Many blue and grey-collar employees of Indian SMEs have no formal financial or career footprint; as a result, they typically fall outside the umbrella of the formal banking system and have limited career progression opportunities. Their lives stand in sharp contrast to white collar employees who work for large companies in the organized sector and receive regular, full time salaries. Since their payroll is documented, white collar workers have access to banking services, such as savings accounts, loans and credits cards and health insurance benefits for them and their families.

Pagarbook is building a human capital platform to address the needs of these 60M SMEs and their 400M employees. They launched Pagarbook as a lightweight attendance management and payroll app 18 months ago. The app has seen unprecedented adoption and has quickly grown to track attendance and manage payroll for millions SME employees.

  • From contacts or Enter using Text and Mobile Number;
  • Type of Salary Payment — Monthly, Per Hour, Daily, Work Basis, Weekly (Staff Punching);
  • Salary Amount & Salary Cycle;
  • Opening Balance (You Paid, You Took);

Staff Profile -

  • Salary Slips — Full Slip/Summary, Date, Share on WhatsApp, Download Offline.
  • Edit Staff Profile — Staff Name, Phone Number, Staff Status, UPI ID, Staff Account Details, Shift Hours, Salary Cycle, Share Attendance, Delete Staff.
  • Attendance — Present, Half Day, Absent, Overtime, Late Fine, Paid Holiday, Write Note.(Send Absent SMS) Punch In and Punch Out Time (Date-wise), Alarm to Mark Attendance, Send SMS to Staff, Help (FAQ’s).
  • Add Payment — You Paid / You took, Amount, Description, Date and Time, Pay Online, Save Payment, Send SMS.

Future Scope: 🤔

A shift is taking place, with a younger, more digitally savvy generation taking over management of small family-run businesses across India. As a result, SME owners are now much more open to finding and downloading self-serve software to manage and improve their business, which was previously not possible to achieve at scale with feet-on-street sales teams.

They are witnessing strong tailwinds in such SME-SaaS software across functions in India and SEA, which has buoyed demand from services from a range of portfolio companies, including Khatabook for bookkeeping, Bharatpe for payments and Bukukas for cashflow management.

Quick things to Improve: 🔨

  • First Time User Flow.
  • Feedback Engine.
  • Can mark Absent and Can still pay OverTime to Employees.
  • Add Staff User Experience — Number of Steps (Progress Bar).
